The main combat feature of Space Empires: Battle for Supremacy is called Planetary Attack, where players can send fleets of their warships to attack the planets of their enemies to raid the planet’s resources. Players will also be able to deploy their fleets to defend their planets or the planets of their allies. There are various factors that affect how combat is played out, and each of these will be discussed here in detail.
Warship Specialization Types
There are two roles that warships in a fleet can specialize on. The only warship that excels on both roles is the ‘Command Ship’ for each respective race.
Anti-ship Superiority
The warships in this category have weapons that are designed to destroy enemy fleets easily. These warships are better suited for taking out other warships. They do lower damage to planet defense structures and have smaller cargo holds for carrying raided resources.
- Terran Alliance: GH2 Greyhound, PR5 Perseus, SH5 Sheiva
- Amon’krie Continuum: Warstriker, Vulture, Warmonger
- Norak Empire: Executor, Flagellant, Heirarch
Seige Superiority
These warships are designed to besiege enemy planets. The warships in this category excel in taking out ground-based defenses, and destroying planet shields. They also have large cargo holds for storing raided resources.
- Terran Alliance: 7GR Tiger, OR1 Orion, R4M Ramuh
- Amon’krie Continuum: Jackal, Pyramid, Sphinx
- Norak Empire: Eradicator, Repentant, Messiah
Fleet Deployment
In order to send out their warships to attack or defend, players have to designate them into fleets in the Fleet Management section. Players should keep the superiority types of these warships in mind so they can choose the right focus of their fleets for either attacking or defending.
To deploy their fleets for either attacking or defending, players have to construct the structure for managing fleets (Fleet Command Beacon for Terrran Alliance, Helm of Command for Amon’krie Continuum, Armada Command Station for Norak Empire).
Once constructed, by clicking on the structure you will see the ‘Deploy Fleet’ section. In here, the player will be able to view the fleets currently stationed in the planet the structure is in. Players can then choose the deployment type (either Attack or Defend) for the fleet and then enter in the coordinates where this fleet will be sent to in the ‘coordinates box’.
Once they click on the ‘Deploy’ button, the fleet will begin travelling to the chosen destination to perform its mission. The travel time will be based on the distance of the planet the fleet will be sent to, and the player’s current level of Interstellar Travel technology. When the fleet arrives at it’s destination, it will perform its mission and the player will receive a report with details of the mission’s results.
Repairing Disabled Defense Structures
When a planet’s Defense Structure’s hit points are reduced to 0, they will be disabled and will not be able to participate in combat. Disabled Defense Structures will appear grayed-out at the planet view. When you click it, there will also be an indication that the structure is disabled, and a “Repair” button will appear along with the repair cost. The repair cost is half of the Defense Structure’s build or upgrade cost, depending on its current level.
Additional Details
- The level of the Fleet Logistics technology will determine the number of fleets that can be deployed in the Fleet Command Beacon/ Helm of Command/ Armada Command Station.
- The Defense Hangar/ Defense Bay /Luxuria Hangar is needed for players to deploy their fleets to defend their planet. If they don’t have this structure, they will not be able to use their fleets for planet defense. The level of this structure determines the number of fleets that can be accommodated to defend the planet, including fleets that have been sent from the player’s other planets or from their allies for defense.
- Once a player deploys a fleet from one of his planets to another planet for defense, the fleet will stay there. This is a way for players to transfer fleets between planets. When a player sends his fleet to defend the planet of an ally, his fleet will stay on that planet unless the player recalls it or if the ally decides to send it back. Keeping the fleet on an ally’s planet will have an upkeep cost.
- The Cargo stat of a warship reflects the number of each resource that it can carry. For example, if a warship has 150 Cargo, it can carry 150 Crystal, 150 Metal and 150 Gas.
- Planet defense structures count as participants of the defending fleet when a planet is being attacked.
- The Espionage Tactics Center/ Helm of Clairvoyance Tower of Invidia structure allows players to detect incoming fleet deployments to the planet it is built on.
- Players cannot deploy their fleets while upgrading their Fleet Command Beacon/Helm of Command/Armada Command Station structure.
- The Fleet Commander will provide bonuses to a fleet depending on its deployment. If a fleet has been sent to attack, the Fleet Commander will grant bonuses to attack stats. If the fleet was deployed to defend, the Fleet commander gives a defense bonus.
